Hi there! My name is Kaitlin (aka Kate) and I am the face behind Kate Bakes. I’ve been baking for as long as I can remember and love creating beautiful pieces of edible art to bring joy to life’s most precious occasions. Almost a decade ago, in my college years, I made wedding cakes and cupcakes part time as I was working towards my degrees. After taking a 5 year hiatus, I decided to get back into baking in 2022 & added custom sugar cookies to my list of confectionery feats.

When I’m not baking, I work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and run a small private practice with my husband. I am a self taught baker and, likely as a result of all of my years of schooling, I’m obsessed with growing and learning new techniques and creating new recipes to make the perfect cookie!

The Kate Bakes kitchen is where all the magic happens! I am a self-taught, home baker and I make all of my confections in my personal kitchen.* The Kate Bakes kitchen is Cottage Food Law compliant and adheres to the highest cleanliness and quality standards.

The Roots

I learned the joy of baking from my mom many moons ago; she taught me how to make everything from fudge during Christmas time to homemade bread on cold winter nights. Growing up, and still to this day, baking is an outlet for creativity for me, and a space that brings me so much joy!
